It can also provide a home its personality which is usually an extension of the owner's personality. It can also provide inspiration to the occupants of the house. We may not even be aware of it but we are certainly making use of art to personalize our home. Art is not only limited to paintings and sculptures. Art can also be seen in tapestries, quilt, photographs and many other items that may not be typically categorized as art. Art may not make it to the list of necessities in our lives in the same category as food, clothing, and shelter. It may not be necessary to continue breathing but is essential to the enjoyment of life. We can only claim to have really lived up if we gave ourselves a chance to experience the joy that only art can bring. An inspiring artwork in the home's work area can encourage people to persevere in their work. A calming artwork in the bedroom can do wonders to a stressed person. A lively artwork in the kitchen speaks of joy in preparing food. The kind of art we place in our home creates the atmosphere which we want to achieve. Nothing can light up a home's darkest area than a piece of colorful art. Well-coordinated pieces of art can totally change the over-all ambiance of a home.
