Indoor Street Art by Paul Baines |
Posted: 28 May 2011 07:35 AM PDT If you're a child of the 80's or older you will most likely remember the Pin Art or Pinscreen craze that was doing the rounds at the time. As far as executive toys go, artist Ward Fleming's patented invention knocked the clackers out of the more traditional Newton's Cradle by giving pinstriped bankers around the world a brief sci-fiesque/Han Solo set in Carbonite escape from the daily grind of crunching numbers for big bonuses and sports cars. Whilst we wait for a future a la Star Wars to finally arrive, which will be never, the nearest you'll get to setting your enemies in Carbonite would be artist Lulu Guinness' reinterpretation of Fleming's invention, only more so. It's a full body sized pin art board! This very retro 'Be a Pin-Up' installation was shown at the 2011 Clerkenwell Design Week and seemed to have been a big hit with the crowd. See plenty more pics in Lulu's Facebook album. Roll on Carbonite I say. |
