Indoor Street Art by Paul Baines |
Posted: 16 May 2011 05:02 AM PDT This June 25th to July 17th Bromance offers up the theme of "Brotherly Love", although Philadelphia comes to mind, hosts Artifact Gallery are based in SF so you'll need to spread it a little further than usual. Top Bay Area artists featured in the charity show and auction include Frank Kozik, Yosiell Lorenzo, Justin Lovato, Jay Howell, Jesse Balmer and Gabe Boscana plus Portland artists Martin Ontiveros, Le Merde, Jon Knox, Ryan Berkley and Bwana Spoons. The show will be curated by Jeremy Riad. Bromance pokes fun at the paradox behind expressions like, "Dude, that's gay." From shopping for clothes to playing sports with the bros, we take pride in our appearance and enjoy the company of other men. Are you mocked because you're that luddite printing zines or that environmentalist going green? We like that you've got things to say and the accompanying balls to say them. Bromance is a charity project dedicated to the cause of relief from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. All profits made will be donated to the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) specifically to help clean up in the gulf. Artifact Gallery is also donating ten percent of all proceeds generated from Bromance to The Trevor Project, an organization dedicated to ending suicide by LGBTQ youth. I've been sent a defunct link to the after show auction at Ebay, perhaps Artifact will get their **** together by the time the show's on. Good cause all the same. Opening reception: Saturday, June 25, 2011 – 6pm-10pm and Sunday, June 26 – 2-6pm – featuring a mural installation and a silent auction for all artwork on display. |
