Zachary Walsh has to be one of my favourite painters right now, a highly accomplished traditional painter with a great eye for expressive composition, perfect tone and line, and not afraid to let loose and experiment where it counts. It's like street art, only better! A graduate of the Royal College of Art, he's been seen as one of the new leading lights of Britain’s contemporary underground art scene for a while now, with comparisons being made to the likes of Lucian Freud. I don't know, I don't particularly like Freud's work, but I love Walsh's. You decide for yourself…

It is this tension, between the archaic and the modern, the real and the imagined, that imbues his paintings with their uncommon, ethereal mystery. Typical of his classically informed work are his series of pieces inspired by working with the Holland Park Opera. Using as models members of his friends and family"… [From Zac's site]
