Massimo Gammacurta’s Lollipops Posted: 02 Apr 2011 05:56 AM PDT If you've got a sweet tooth then get your teeth into Italian photographer Massimo Gammacurta's Lollipop project. He created everyone of these edible artworks with real hard ball candy, and based each on a famous brand logo before photographing the lot for posterity. I'm sure someone has eaten the lot by now, as the line from Wall Street goes "greed is good". Seeing as the world is in recession perhaps it's time for the likes of Apple and Nike to produce a budget line of confectionery? One thing I do know is that all these brands will be rubbing their proverbial hands with glee right now, after all free PR is free PR. |
Bad Trippin’ With Charlie Immer Posted: 01 Apr 2011 08:13 PM PDT Ever had a bad trip? You know the sort, you can't stop laughing and before you know it the world is melting around your knees? You know, like this >>> Charlie Immer is blessed/cursed (depending on which side of the fence your brain lies) with a vision of the world that few of us see without the aid of highly powerful psychoactive substances. Some have described his work as 'candy', there are a lot of good things I can say about this guy's paintings and prints, but edibility ain't one of them. He totally nails blood and generally human fluids, organs, subcutaneous fat and just about everything I'd rather avoid seeing. He beautifies the gross, something akin to a poptastic Dali with a penchant for the bitter-sweet in life. Immer's art is like a big fat juicy peach with a maggot inside, and its head is in your mouth. Beautifully disgusting, or should that be vice-versa? Check out his cool blog or see more of his prints and paintings. |
